2026 Important Information

AUGUST 1st Entry

The Online entry system is not available for the Floriculture Department. The Floriculture Superintendent accepts entries on paper tags available starting Saturday August 1. Each exhibitor will be responsible for submitting their own entry tag. Parents must sign if the exhibitor is under 18 years of age. Entries are accepted 7:00 AM to 10 AM on Saturday, August 1, with judging beginning at 10 AM. or as directed by the show chair.

The show is open to the public from 12:00 PM to 10 PM, August 1st.

AUGUST 2nd Exhibit Retrieval

Exhibits may be picked up after 8:00 AM on Sunday, August 2. Any exhibits not retrieved by 12:00, August 2, will be discarded.

RULES & REMINDERS

  • The Rose Show is co-sponsored by the Missoula Rose Society, an affiliate of the American Rose Society.

  • The show will be judged according to the rules of the American Rose Society by accredited judges, junior judges, and/or Garden Club judges.

  • The Co-Chairs of the Show are Ron Dowell and Jim Sadler. Ron Dowell serves as the Horticulture Consultant, while Jim Sadler is the Artistic Design Consultant.

  • All residents of Western Montana are eligible to enter.

  • This is an alphabetical show—each exhibitor will place their specimen in the appropriate section alphabetically, using the first letter of the rose’s name as listed in the American Rose Society Handbook.

  • Please bring your roses! If a class for your rose does not exist, we will create one. All roses are welcome!

Artistic Design Division II

  • This division is governed by the current rules and procedures of the American Rose Society and the Western Montana Fair.

  • Arrangement classes are open to all amateur arrangers.

  • Exhibitors are permitted only one (1) entry per class. There is no limit to the number of classes an exhibitor may enter.

  • Entries must be in place by 10:00 AM and must remain until the show closes. Entries received after 10:00 AM will be used for display purposes only.

  • All roses must be outdoor garden-grown.

  • Each different variety of rose used in an arrangement must be correctly named. Misnaming will result in a penalty but not disqualification. The names of the roses will be verified by ARS judges.

  • Roses must be the dominant flower in all arrangements. Other flowers and foliage may be used. Artificial plant material is not permitted, and painted fresh plant material is not allowed. However, treated, tinted, or painted dried plant material is allowed. Accessories are permitted in all classes unless otherwise stated. American flags are not allowed under any circumstances.

  • The judges' decisions are final. Judging will be conducted by ARS-accredited judges, student judges, and/or National Garden Club-accredited judges and student judges.

  • Please mark each entry as Novice, Intermediate, or Advanced, as all exhibitors may enter any class.

THEME OF SHOW: “Stars and Stripes Forever”

All artistic classes allow the designer's choice of type and components. Roses of any size and variety are permitted in any arrangement.
